Overview:

At Escola Concept, our Early Years learners, known as "Explorers," are welcomed into a world filled with curiosity, play, and discovery. To support this, we are seeking a Curriculum & Assessment Designer for our Early Years division to ensure our curriculum and assessments align with the latest pedagogical practices, empowering educators to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.


Position Summary:

As a Curriculum & Assessment Designer, you will play a central role in developing, aligning, and monitoring the curriculum and assessment practices for the Early Years division. You will collaborate with educators and school leadership to guarantee that our curriculum supports the school’s national and international standards and that assessments reflect the learning objectives. Your focus will be on fostering a joyful and engaging environment that fuels the curiosity and development of our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Alignment and Development:

  • Work collaboratively with Early Years educators to ensure the curriculum reflects the school’s vision of inquiry-based learning, active listening, and student-led investigations.
  • Develop and refine assessment tools that align with both national and international curricular benchmarks.
  • Assist in planning and documenting projects that encourage inquiry-based learning, ensuring that assessments and learning objectives are clearly mapped out.
  • Ensures quality, coherence, updating, and curricular alignment.

Project Planning and Collaboration:

  • Support teachers in the backward design process, providing guidance in unit planning and assessment alignment.
  • Collaborate with educators to create project-based learning experiences that tap into children's curiosity and encourage exploration.
  • Conducts professional learning sessions and meetings with the team in full alignment with the Reggio Emilia approach, Pikler approach, Psychogenesis, Morality, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), and institutional programs.
  • Is extensively involved and contributes ideas to all proposals, events, training, and opportunities for innovation in the Institution.
  • Meets with families together with the reference educator to share goals and progress in relation to learning objectives.

Assessment Creation and Monitoring:

  • Design formative and summative assessments that track student progress and development.
  • Provide feedback and strategies for improvement based on assessment results and ensure documentation of learning progress is visible through pedagogical records.
  • Monitor assessment data to support the continuous enhancement of teaching strategies and student outcomes.
  • Responsible for the continuous evaluation of educators' performance, providing constructive feedback, and identifying opportunities for professional development.

Classroom Observation and Support:

  • Regularly observe sessions, offering constructive feedback and innovative strategies that align with our inquiry-based, experiential learning philosophy.
  • Help integrate technological tools to enrich student learning and assessments, with a focus on platforms such as Toddle.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Ensure clear communication with families, including revisions to project letters and progress updates to be shared with parents.
  • Hold weekly meetings with division leaders to review project overviews, discuss assessment progress, and resolve challenges.
  • Has the ability to communicate clearly and accurately not only with the educational team but also with the school community, keeping them informed about the progress and learning strategies of students.

Professional Development and Community Engagement:

  • Identify areas where educators may benefit from further professional development and work with leadership to provide relevant training.
  • Engage with the broader school community to foster awareness of the Early Years curriculum, presenting updates and insights on our educational initiatives.



Cultural Diversity and Resource Integration:

  • Promote the inclusion of international classroom resources that celebrate cultural diversity within the school community.
  • Actively contribute to creating a nurturing, joyful learning environment that reflects the values of love, respect, and care that define the Early Years program.
  • Coordinates different areas ethically and responsibly, in harmony with the leadership team.

Requisitos e qualificações

Qualifications:

  • Education: Postgraduate degree or Master's in Education, Pedagogy, or related fields (preferred: postgraduate with emphasis on school management)
  • Language: English proficiency at C1 or higher.
  • Experience: Previous experience in curriculum design and assessment development, ideally within Early Years education.
  • Experience in teacher development.
  • Experience in bilingual education.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the age group (1 to 6 years)
  • Skills: Strong collaboration, pedagogical analysis, organizational, and communication skills; familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms like Toddle.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in curriculum standards, inquiry-based learning, Project-Based Learning (PBL), and active learning methodologies. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach, Pikler approach, Psychogenesis, Morality, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).
  • Extensive knowledge of educational technology, integrating elements related to technology in teaching the English language, ensuring that educators are up to date and use digital resources effectively.
